CANATELLA'S GOURMET SEASONING HISTORY

Going back to Poggioreale, Sicily where my great great grandfather Leonardo Canatella was born, he started blending his own seasonings for cooking. Of these blends one was passed down from generation to generation. My great grandfather came over on the boat through Ellis Island and moved to the New Orleans area to be near his brother. He brought my grandfather Rocco Canatella with him and his older brother Leon. My grandfather was a cook on shipliners and freighters. During this time my grandfather used these blends and came up with a new blend from seasonings he gathered all over the world during his travels. These were passed down to my father who passed them down to me.

When my father or I would cook many people would ask what do you put in your sauces, roast, steaks, chicken, etc. that makes them taste so good. So we started to blend them at home for our friends and family, but as they told people about the seasoning blends the demand got to the point where we decided to sell them to everyone. We hope you enjoy these seasonings as much as our friends and family.
